Trump Calls War with Iran “Short-Term Excursion”

(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump stated on Monday that the conflict with Iran might be a “short-term excursion,” emphasizing that joint operations with Israel will persist until Iran is “totally and decisively defeated.”

Speaking at a Republican gathering in Florida, Trump remarked, “We took a little excursion because we felt we had to do that to get rid of some evil, and I think you'll see it's going to be a short term excursion.” He insisted that without these actions, Iran would have acquired a nuclear weapon within a matter of weeks.

Trump asserted that combined US and Israeli forces are “crushing” Iran, claiming that the nation’s drone and missile infrastructure is being “utterly demolished.” He added, “The Navy is gone. It's all lying at the bottom of the ocean -- 46 ships,” noting that Iranian leaders have been repeatedly targeted throughout the campaign.

The president confirmed that military operations will continue until Iran is “totally and decisively defeated.” His statements coincide with a series of US and Israeli attacks on Iran that began on February 28, resulting in over 1,200 fatalities so far, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, more than 150 schoolgirls, and senior military officials.

In response, Iran has launched strikes on US bases, diplomatic facilities, and military personnel in the region, as well as targeting several Israeli cities. These retaliatory actions have claimed the lives of at least seven US service members.
