Shooting Leaves Man with Serious Injuries in Sydney
Emergency services were dispatched to Greenacre, located approximately 14 kilometers west of Sydney's central business district, at around 6 a.m. following reports of a public shooting, according to a police statement.
Upon arrival, officers were informed that a 44-year-old man had been gunned down outside a residential property by occupants of an SUV, which fled the scene immediately after the attack. Ambulance paramedics rendered urgent on-site treatment for multiple gunshot wounds before transporting the victim to hospital in a serious condition.
The investigation took a fresh turn shortly after, when police responding to reports in a neighboring suburb discovered the suspected getaway SUV engulfed in flames — a development widely seen as a deliberate attempt to destroy evidence. Firefighters extinguished the blaze, and the vehicle was subsequently seized for forensic examination.
Investigators have since established crime scenes at both locations as detectives work to piece together the circumstances surrounding the targeted attack. No arrests have been announced.
