Zelensky reveals first files of peace plan to be ready for inking soon
Zelenskyy emphasized that the timeline depends on the willingness of all parties but said the framework for ending the conflict is in its final stages. “I hope that we will have a decision on all documents in January,” he stated, noting that Ukraine, the US, Russia, and European countries are expected to be signatories.
The plan reportedly includes a US offer of legally binding security guarantees for 15 years, with Zelenskyy pushing for an extension to 50 years, in an “Article 5–like” commitment. Discussions are also ongoing regarding the deployment of US troops and a specialized monitoring mission to prevent Russian provocations immediately after a ceasefire. Zelenskyy stressed that any deployment of American forces would be decided solely by Washington, under US authority.
Beyond security measures, the peace plan features a significant economic component called the “Prosperous Ukraine” package. Zelenskyy described the presence of US troops as a strong security guarantee and underlined that talks are continuing with both Trump and representatives of a broader coalition.
