New Jersey Police Confront Pro-Palestinian Protesters

(MENAFN) Police in New Jersey took action on Tuesday against pro-Palestinian demonstrators who protested a program featuring former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.

In Livingston, crowds assembled outside a synagogue where Gallant was scheduled to speak. Waving Palestinian flags and wearing traditional keffiyehs, protesters congregated in front of the venue, chanting slogans that held Gallant responsible for civilian casualties in Gaza.

Protesters displayed signs stating “Protect children, arrest Gallant” and “Gallant is guilty of genocide” while vocally demanding “Free Palestine.”

As demonstrators obstructed entry to the synagogue, law enforcement officers moved in to disperse the gathering.

Authorities forced some participants to the ground and detained multiple individuals during the intervention. Gallant held the role of Israel's defense minister from 2022 to 2024.

In November 2024, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Gallant, citing atrocities committed in Gaza, where more than 69,000 people, primarily women and children, have died since October 2023.
