S. Korea’s Lee, U.S. Trump Discuss Ties in Key Meeting
The South Korean presidential office said that Lee announced plans to increase the country’s defense budget and advance its defense industry to strengthen national security and reduce the financial burden on the United States within their defense alliance.
In addition, Lee emphasized that Seoul plans to increase investment in the United States and expand imports from the U.S., aiming to further strengthen the South Korea-U.S. alliance.
Trump reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to maintaining strong ties with South Korea and collaborating closely to address issues on the Korean Peninsula.
