South Korea’s Leader Approval Rate Hits 69.5 Percent
(MENAFN) South Korean President Lee Jae-myung's public approval surged last week, climbing 2.2 percentage points to 69.5%, according to a new weekly survey released Monday.
The nationwide poll, conducted via computer-assisted telephone interviews (CATI) by local firm Flower Research, also showed a notable decline in public dissatisfaction with Lee’s performance. Negative assessments fell by 2.3 percentage points to 28.7%.
Support for Lee’s ruling liberal Democratic Party rose sharply, gaining 5.3 points to reach 55.6%. Meanwhile, backing for the conservative opposition People Power Party dropped by 1.2 points to 25.3%.
Among smaller parties, the left-leaning Rebuilding Korea Party garnered 1.8% support, while the right-wing New Reform Party registered 4.0%.
A separate automated response system (ARS) survey conducted by the same pollster showed Lee's approval rating also increasing — up 1.9 points to 60.8% compared to the previous week.
The CATI and ARS surveys questioned 1,001 and 1,006 eligible voters respectively, between Friday and Saturday. Both had a margin of error of ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
